The Live for Lorcan Initiative has been shortlisted for Excellence in Health & Safety at the Irish Construction Industry Awards 2026.
Live for Lorcan was created to bring a more personal focus to workplace safety, encouraging people to think beyond procedures and remember why working safely matters.
Inspired by the story of Lorcan Deasy, the initiative focuses on the human and behavioural factors that can influence safety decisions and encourages workers to Protect Yourself First to Protect What Matters Most.
The initiative is now reaching beyond its origins, with organisations including Galway City Council implementing Live for Lorcan within their own health and safety programmes.
The aim is simple: to encourage more conversations around safety, influence safer decisions and help more people return home safely every day.
